We now bring to you the Pereira Shavery Scuttle, it has being in the making for a while, waiting for a slot with one of Portugal best Ceramic House to start producing it for us.
Our Scuttle allows you to fill the bottom chamber with warm/hot or Ice Cold water and then you create your lather in the top Bowl. The bottom reservoir, with a cork or you shaving brush inserted to retain the heat or the Cold will keeps your lather warm or ice cold and ready - as the ceramic in one the best holders of heat. You can count on this bowl whipping up a luxurious lather. The heavy stoneware, Hand crafted in Coimbra District, a traditional Portuguese area known for its ceramics. Ribbed circles on the inner Bowl of the Scuttle’s with it’s black Glazed surface, allows for a very easy production of thick foam and it also has a shaving brush rest for easy access, it will hold heat or cold, the Bowl is wide, like other Pereira Shavery Bowls, will make it easy to whip, and the sides are designed high enough to keep your lather in.
The smooth glaze is waterproof and food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. I finally got to use this after I received it in the mail and to say I was not disappointed woukd be a gross understatement!
I filled the spout with boiling hot water, plugged it with my shaving brush, filled the mug part to soak the razor, poured a dallop on the soap to moisten it and then took a hot shower to soften my bristles.
When i got out i removed the brush, slapped the cork in and poured out the water in the mug without losing a drop on the inside via the cork.
I then did my first pass and was amazed at how not just warm but HOT the later was!
On my second pass it hardly seemed to have gone down at all (indeed maybe even warmer from leaving the lathered up brush in the bowl while shaving).
After a disappointing performance with a much thinner walled vintage one i was absolutely blown away by the performance of this one and had to write a stellar review. If you're thinking of buying one go for it it WORKS! :-D

Good scuttle, the handle is nice, really helps when celaing/drying. The brush section is nice to lay handle against. Keeps lather warm but not as hot as I was hoping.
Used it first time this morning. I have 3 other scuttles and the Pereira is far and above the best of the lot! I like that it is wide: top and bottom. It generated lots of lather due to the swirls and nodules on the bottom. I like the brush-holder handle and the large filler hole.
Especially worthy of note is that through 3 passes on my face, and 2 passes on my head, the scuttle and lather were still VERY WARM at he end of the shaves.
And to top it off, it looks fantastic!
Note: I did cut a piece of cork and glued it to the bottom for protection of the bottom and my counter top.
